Why Warriors Fans Booed

On a night that was supposed to honor Warriors great Chris Mullin, things instead got ugly.  Warriors fans were highly upset with GM Joe Lacob for recently trading away star Monta Ellis to the Bucks (along with Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown).  In exchange, the Warriors got injured (and injury-prone) center Andrew Bogut and briefly welcomed back [insert adjective here: fiery, mercurial, temperamental, troubled, fan-punching] Stephen Jackson.

The Warriors have clearly given up on this season, as Bogut was already out indefinitely due to a fractured ankle, and they quickly dealt Stephen Jackson to the Spurs.  The Bucks, on the other hand, look to be making a run at that 8th playoff seed.  This can be seen very clearly in each team's Generic Points Favored (GPF) graphs (updated daily here).

As you can see from the graphs below, subsequent to the March 13 trade, the market's confidence in the two teams promptly went in opposite directions, with the Warriors dropping 3.5 points in GPF, and the Bucks gaining 3.
